Finlandia: Current account records narrower deficit in March
The current account posted a EUR 0.6 billion deficit in March, improving from the EUR 0.7 billion deficit clocked in February (March 2022: EUR 1.7 billion deficit). Moreover, the 12-month trailing current account deficit improved, coming in at EUR 9.3 billion in March (February: EUR 10.4 billion deficit).
The merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a EUR 0.8 billion surplus in March (February 2023: EUR 0.1 billion deficit). Merchandise exports jumped 11.1% over the same month last year in March (February: -10.6% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports fell 9.4% on an annual basis in March (February: -13.2% yoy).
