Following Q2’s acceleration, the economy likely grew at a broadly similar annual pace in Q3. On the one hand, goods exports rebounded and tourist arrivals growth rose from Q2 in July–August. On the other hand, domestic demand data is less upbeat. In Q3, growth in both retail sales and industrial output eased from Q2. Additionally, inflation almost doubled from Q2’s average in Q3, and Storm Boris will have dented economic activity at the end of the quarter. In other news, Poland recently unveiled plans to sell up to EUR 15 billion in foreign-currency bonds in 2025—broadly similar to this year’s sale—to support higher defense spending. That said, authorities may struggle to secure enough funds. Investor sentiment has soured for emerging-market assets amid mounting geopolitical uncertainty; this tempered demand for zloty-denominated bonds in a recent auction.
