Our panelists expect annual GDP growth to have accelerated further in Q3. The data at hand hints at a broad-based improvement. Domestically, inflation averaged its lowest in nearly three years, providing household finances with some breathing room and likely supporting private consumption. Moreover, externally, merchandise exports rebounded. In politics, President Saied secured reelection in the 6 October presidential vote with over 90% of support; policy continuity is expected, with political and economic difficulties to continue. In the fiscal arena, on 21 October, the government presented its USD 25.2 billion 2025 budget, representing a 3.3% increase from 2024. The blueprint foresees a reduction of the fiscal deficit to 5.5% of GDP from 6.3% on an expected 7.3% increase in tax revenues. The authorities also aim to reduce external debt and increase domestic borrowing.
